Just when I think I'm going to blog consistently again, a month has passed and I've written nothing. There truly just aren't enough hours in the day!
We had a GREAT end to the school year. The Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend, I ducked out of school a little early to see Sara perform in her piano recital. She'd been in an after school piano/keyboarding class this semester, and she learned so much. During the recital, she performed "Ode to Joy" and "Roar" by Katy Perry. She was so good!
We celebrated with Starbucks and a trip to Half Price Books.
We spent Memorial Day Weekend in this beautiful cabin in Broken Bow, OK. The ride there took just over three hours, and our little spot was absolutely perfect. Peaceful, simple, relaxing.
We made our share of s'mores and enjoyed seeing the stars.
The girls played so well together on our get-away, which made my heart happy. Ladder ball was a favorite, of course, followed closely by hot-tubbing.
Our cabin was named "Better Half", and the girls thought it was so funny when they pulled out Cokes that said "share a Coke with your Better Half"!
We enjoyed some paddle boat scenery and exercise. Beaver's Bend State Park is beautiful!
We ate most our meals at the cabin, but had to try Grateful Head pizza, which came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! It's a funky place with lots of personality and delicious pizza.
We had to watch "The Great Outdoors" in the great outdoors.
We enjoyed a beach day at the state park. We packed a cooler and just spent the day relaxing and swimming. I think there is a lot to be said for easy fun.
We could walk around and swim across this swimming hole part of the lake.
The girls certainly felt the freedom of being able to roam. Love it.
One big perk of our get-away to a relatively close spot is that we were home and unpacked with time to still swim and prepare for the week without stress on Monday! Emma must have been inspire by the canoes we saw in BB, because she made her own in the pool.
We made it through the last week of school! The girls were certainly counting down the early wake-ups. They are super excited that Ms. Molly is home from college and is able to spend her summer with them. She'll start tomorrow, and Steve and I will enjoy our easy mornings of getting up and heading out without having to lure the girls out of bed. We celebrated last night at the FC Dallas game. It was HOT, but a great game nonetheless.
Today we had a birthday party for one of Emma's friends at Jack Carter Pool, and the #loveplano heart was there. Summer in our city is off to a great start!
