Our summer has just about come to an end. After Steve and I left Minnesota, we immediately headed back to work while the girls continued the fun up north.
Auntie and Sara were excited for their Harry Potter Day - a full day of movie watching with all of Sara's favorite snacks (plus a couple breaks to walk Expo and make meals). Sara was thrilled!
While that was happening, Grandma took Emma to the pool at Lifetime. Here's Emma showing off the "x" on her hand, indicating that she passed the required swimming test to be able to go in the lazy river without an adult. She was pretty proud!
The girls spent the night a couple of times with Auntie and Adam, and of course cooked from scratch. This night was homemade meatballs!
There were a couple of gigs while the girls were there. Emma got to introduce Triggerfish, and they both did plenty of dancing ...
... and sleeping in.
There is a new brewery near where my parents have their boat. We stopped there with them, and then they went back again after we'd left. The girls loved this pinball machine. We reminisced about the one we had in our house growing up. So much fun!
The trip was only complete with a visit to the big yellow candy store! I love that the girls get the chance to enjoy MN summer. They are making lifelong memories!
The girls flew back to Dallas with Melissa, who stayed with us for a few days. She got to see Emma play soccer, enjoyed pool time, and some relaxing patio meals. Before she left, the two of us managed to get away on our own for a few hours. It was so good to have her here!
Last Friday night, we made it to a Rangers game at the ballpark - probably our last game there before the new stadium opens. The four of us went with Papa and Mark to celebrate Papa's birthday. It was super hot and muggy, but a good game! For fun, we climbed to the top of the stadium to see the whole field, and we caught a beautiful sunset while we were way up high!
On Saturday, Sara and I met up with some DFW Cyclones for a Feed My Starving Children event. We had a great time packing meals for a couple of hours. Emma was disappointed that she couldn't come along due to a soccer game, but I definitely think we'll be back. It was such an impacting service opportunity.
And that's about it for summer ... one day last week we went shopping for new lunch boxes and water bottles, and the girls are just about ready to head back to school. The early wake-ups will be a shock to their systems. They have Meet the Teacher on Friday, and next Monday is the first day. The past couple of weeks have been so packed for me - I love having my teachers back on campus, but I'm exhausted! Hoping for some rest (between soccer tournament games) this weekend. Life is always busy, but next week, the real craziness begins again. We're ready for it. So long, Summer!
