Like many of you, we are back into our normal routine after a long, relaxing break. We were lucky to have Steve home with us for most of the break, and so all three of us are having to adjust to getting back on a schedule. You would think after all of the sleeping in, lounging, and living leisurely we'd be full of energy. Not so. It's Tuesday evening and I'm already exhausted. Funny how that works.
Sara did a great job of getting back into the groove at school after two weeks away. Many of the kids at her school have parents who are teachers, so she was one of a large group who returned yesterday after time at home with mom and dad. She has wasted no time making school her second home again. To prove it, I'd like to share with you two of today's events: 1) A boy bit Sara on the wrist during lunch because after she'd finished her portion, she was apparently still hungry and walked over to take his. Not that I want my child to be bitten (or to bite others, which thankfully she hasn't done yet), but food can be a very sensitive topic and she does need to learn that it's just not cool to take another person's food. Trust me, I'm on lunch duty for 90 minutes everyday, and I've seen near-riots break out over one person trying to take even a small bite of another person's beloved lunch. 2) Sara pooped on the potty at school today! She's never done it before, and I don't know when she'll do it again. But she did it today and we're so proud of her!
I've noticed more and more gray hairs popping up on my head recently. They've been coming in for quite some time now, but for the longest they were just coming in with the hair on the bottom layers. Now they are coming in loud and proud on top. At first glance, and in the right light, they look a little blonde. But, alas, beautiful blonde locks are not sprouting from my head of dark brown. They are gray. I'd like to say they make me look sophisticated, but there is a chance they just make me look cheap since there is no way I'm going to start paying money to dye my hair. It's just not something I do. Yet.
I have finally made it about half way through A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and I'm anxious to turn a few more pages tonight, so I'll sign off for now. Have a good night, friends.

I have those hairs too, but I kill them with highlights. My stylist contends they are blonde, but I disagree. Either way, it gives me an excuse to spend a couple hours getting taken care of at the salon. I kind of like it. ;)
Congrats to Sara!
