It's been a long time since I've lived in a city that boasts a championship team. The Twins had an awesome run when I was a kid, and although they get close just about every year, they haven't been quite close enough in quite some time. The Rangers went to the World Series for the first time last season, which was exciting, but they fell short of the big win. As far as the other teams who occupy the cities in which we've lived ... T-wolves, Vikes, Chiefs, Royals, Cowboys ... forget about it. There's a real sense of spirit and community here right now, which I remember feeling when the Royals actually won five or six games during our KC stint (remember, success is relative).
In other championship news, Sara is officially winning the potty war. And by winning I mean beating us to near death. Her resolve is strong, and she's determined to outlast us. In a sheer battle of wills, Sara knows she's in complete control of her bladder, and she will not give us the satisfaction of relieving herself on the potty. It's very possible that I've never been so frustrated by someone else's bodily functions in my entire life. She's also really into the phrase, "I don't want to [insert idea, command, etc.]." So, yeah, I won't be hoisting any trophies soon. Instead, you may find me waving my white flag.

Yea, Mavs!!!! Yes, it was very exciting, even all the way over here in Florida. The Cowboys were good once upon a time and they will be again someday. I'll be cheering them on from where ever I am at the time.
Ben went through the same thing with potty training. We thought we were on the right track and then he suddenly wanted nothing to do with it. So, we just acted like we'd never even tried, ignored the whole thing and put him back in a diaper... and then a few months later, ended up bribing him with M & Ms and playing hard ball (by making him wear underwear, which resulted in all of two accidents) and the deal was done. Whoever said that the only thing kids can control is what they put in and what comes out is absolutely right!
This post makes me laugh so much. Avery is the same way with the potty. One night, she told me she wanted to "potty like Elmo" so she sat on the potty for about three seconds, got off, ran to the den and peed all over the carpet. She also likes to poop in the shower and tells everyone (even strangers), "I poop in show". Good luck! I might need tips for our potty training boot camp in about a month.
