- Desperate Housewives ended forever on Sunday night. The finale was perfect ... I was so hoping that it wouldn't be disappointing, and it wasn't. I especially loved the last few minutes with all of the ghosts of Wisteria Lane past. It was fun to see the full cast of characters and it was just so beautifully poetic (which is probably a dorky thing to say about a TV show). But it was the cherry on top, if you will. The last show I mourned (after watching faithfully for seven seasons, as I did with DH) was Dawson's Creek.
- With the DH finale a thing of the past, I don't know what will become of my Sunday nights. Even Steve said, "Now you don't have any shows." It's true. No televised drama through which I can live vicariously one night each week. I have no plans to adopt a new show, so maybe I'll read more ... or blog more ... or go to bed earlier ... or just watch whatever nonsense is on cable (right now "Father of the Bride" is on Lifetime ... I'll take it!). Come September, I'm sure I'll find myself plenty busy without a weekly television commitment (besides The Office, which, as I've mentioned in previous posts, has become a record-a-bunch-and-catch-up-once-a-month-or-so kind of show for us).
- I'm not sure why it took so long, but it feels like the reality of this pregnancy has finally hit me. Maybe it's because now it's obvious to the casual observer. I've been happy since the beginning, but now I'm beginning to really feel excited about our new baby girl. When I think about her arrival, I am overwhelmed with the feeling that our family will be complete. It's a really good feeling.
- In other news related to baby, I had forgotten what it feels like to put effort into bending over. When I got to a certain point in my pregnancy with Sara, I quit shaving my legs and painting my toenails. And aside from the fact that it wasn't attractive, it really didn't matter because it was fall/early winter (a cold one by North Texas standards, at that) and I was wearing pants and closed-toe shoes. I'm not going to have that luxury this time around, so I'm going to have to work on my ability to maneuver creatively. I get short of breath just thinking about it.
- I got a Kindle for Mother's Day! Steve and my mom were in cahoots, because he gave me the Kindle and she sent me an Amazon gift card with which to start my e-book collection. The timing was perfect because my allotted book shelf space is officially full. I started my first e-book over the weekend, and the transition to an e-reader was a lot more pleasant than I'd anticipated. Definitely a gift after my own heart; I'm excited to now have new books at my fingertips. I even found a cute case on clearance at Target.
- Sara moves up to a new room at school next week. This placement will last just through the summer, and in August she'll move to a room that has "pre-K" in the title. What?! Although she'll be in a pre-K class for two school years, the title makes me both excited and a little nauseous at the same time.
- I have been trying to stay out of the debates about the Time Magazine cover, and plan to continue that course. But I just have to say this: apparently I'm not mom enough to buy into attachment parenting. But I am trying everyday to be mom enough to believe that I make the best choices for my girl(s), and I am mom enough to pour every ounce of my love into the decisions I make for and about them. I'm mom enough to know that they complete my world, and to work to provide them every possible opportunity. And that's mom enough.

I love your posts lately, Katie! You often write exactly what I am thinking (besides anything pregnancy related :-)). Thank you for your honesty. It's nice to see that not all moms have perfect children with perfect lives.
For your new Kindle, be sure to sign up for the Amazon Kindle Daily Deals E-mails. The book of the day is always either $0.99 or $1.99.
Being an every day mom + being your girls #1 fan + support + patience + unconditional love = strong daughters
..you already know this and we can see it in Sara! 2nd daughter will bring different experiences & challenges & memories and lots of fun!!
Love
