Yesterday morning Sara and I headed to her swimming lessons, and then to Target. When we got home, Steve took her to the traveling carnival that's parked in the Central Market parking lot. She had been begging to go since they set up there about a week ago. They were there for about 45 minutes; Sara rode a few rides, failed to win a goldfish (yay!), and came home happy. Then, as we'd hoped, the pool had warmed up, so we all put on suits and spent the afternoon enjoying the beautiful weather. Emma passed out around 5:30, Sara followed not long after, and they both slept until 7:30 this morning.
Today the temps were even higher, so we spent the day outside in the beautiful sunshine. Steve's dad came over to help him pour concrete for the new basketball hoop. They had to get creative to work around some wires, but they engineered a good solution and the hoop is now officially in progress. We have to let the concrete set for a few days before proceeding. The girls and I enjoyed playing outside, watching the comings-and-goings at the garage sale next door, and of course some time in the pool. I already have multiple tan lines going, which I guess is a sign of a successful start to the season. All the fresh air has left everyone tired, so I'm anticipating early bedtimes again.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! I hope you're doing something special for your kids' teachers. There are many cute ideas out there, especially on Pinterest (which I'm not on, but can sometimes see from Google). Anyway, after lots of brainstorming and asking around, I decided on teacher treats for the week: tomorrow, the girls' teachers are each getting a bundtlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes, Wednesday we're bringing delicious spring cookies for the entire staff (it's hard to leave people out when you know they ALL pitch in for your kids), and on Friday the teachers are getting plastic tumblers/straws stuffed with a variety of goodies and a gift card. Sara also wrote a special note to her teacher, which is a free and heartfelt way to express appreciation. Teachers are pretty easy to please ... a coffee or a take-out lunch go a long way, so make some plans to treat a teacher you know this week. I promise, they've earned it.
I completely failed to buy groceries this weekend, which will bother me
later this week when I'm making a weeknight store run. But right now,
I'm okay with it. We had one of those
very-relaxing-yet-very-full-at-the-same-time weekends, and it was great. Hope yours was the same!

Weekending
To wrap up, here are a couple of pics from recent weekends...
{Grandpa took this one a couple Saturdays ago; ready for swimming lessons.}
{Little sister wanted in the pool, too, after watching Sara's lesson last weekend.}
